Gena Thurston, PT, DPT, CIDN, joins Steve Kravitz Physical Therapy with several years of experience providing a unique mix of physical therapy services such as orthopedic manual therapy, myofascial release, dry needling, manual-resisted exercise, cupping and vocal massage.  Gena is passionate about restoring musculoskeletal health for active people – professional, collegiate and school-age athletes, dancers, entertainers and weekend warriors. Gena joins the practice following her three-year tenure at NeuroTour, a leading National physical therapy company that focuses on supporting entertainers and performers from Broadway, touring and local theater and dance companies.  With NeuroTour she got her start traveling with a Broadway cast on their national tour as their dedicated physical therapist proving she can deliver results quickly to performers who have to get back on stage day after day, for months at a time  She then left the road to open NeuroSport’s first Chicago office as their Clinic Director supporting established shows including Hamilton, Stomp, Aladdin, as well as various actors in television/film, and musicians. Gena completed her tenure there as NeuroTour’s dedicated physical therapist for Hamilton, treating the cast and crew before, during and after each performance.

Prior to that Gena practiced for several years in Chattanooga, Tennessee at an outpatient physical therapy clinic after receiving her doctorate in Physical Therapy from Tennessee State University.  She received her under graduate degree in Exercise Science from University of Tennessee Knoxville where she also served as a student athletic trainer for The Lady Vols. She enjoys treating a wide variety of patients with a special interest in treating singers and musicians with vocal tension. In her free time, Gena enjoys pilates, hiking with her dog and husband, as well as traveling.
